Heritage Renewal

The Center for Heritage Renewal continues to have quite a few irons in the fire, all of them bearing the Heritage brand.

On the first weekend in August we were spread across a pretty wide front. While Richard Rothaus was at Fort Abercrombie, presenting the prelimary results of the center's research on the 1862 Siege, Tom Isern, Clarence Herz, and others were in Strasburg, proving up the Welk Homestead by making repairs to the barn. Good times and good results at both ends.

We continue with a broad swath of research on Dakota War battlefields for the American Battlefield Protection Program, while also pursuing many other lines of work. Recently the center received a grant from the North Dakota Humanities Council to organize a series of programs on man camps in the oil patch. Other proposals are out there, and other projects taking shape. Stay tuned.
